Having owned a Green 97 with all the same options I’d almost say that’s worth it. Best  truck I’ve ever driven. Never should have sold it

My friend managed to blow one of these up because of a head gasket problem. I’d say it had a good run because the odometer stopped working at the 350k mark.

Strongly disagree. I’ve never sampled an automatic or 4x4 , but I loved driving both of my manual, work-spec R angers. Basically the poster child of 360° visibility, and that’s coming from someone with a Miata.

Agreed.  I sold my 98 taco SR5...it needed work, had 245K and got crap mileage...the XC70 I replaced it with was a much better family vehicle (as is the 3.6 outback that replaced that) but I still miss the Taco...

I was especially stupid. My dad basically gave me the truck for 1000 bucks because he was moving to Connecticut and his company that he was relocating for gave him a Tundra as part of the deal.

However I lost my job and envetually told him to sell it because I couldn’t pay him for it and I already had a car that was cheaper to own. If I had any sense in my head I would have held onto it and paid him when I got a job. I think we sold it for 5k needing new rear shocks and some brake work. Also it sat funny because it had T-100 leaf springs, Which gave it like a 3inch Lift on the rear.   My Dad had  planed on finishing the lift but never got around to it. I’m 90% sure that’s why the rear shocks blew too. That it all the burn outs

Makes me feel a little better about my daily driver. 201xxx on the meter. Same engine but mines an auto which sucks but whatever.  It's amazing how few amenities these trucks had, no clock, no trip meter are my favorites.  I carry full coverage on it, wonder what the insurance value is if it were to become totaled?

I bought a 99 Tacoma about a year ago with 60k miles . Rust free. 2.4 sr5 2wd non prerunner. I still can’t believe the amount I paid for it... Roughly half this pric e.

These trucks don’t really depreciate . There is a guy up the road that buys them on salvage from c opart. Does top notch repairs and can sell them for 7-12k. It’s crazy. He only does 2wd because he said he said a salvage 4wd model that needs s seriouse repairs costs more at auction than he could sell it for and he had no clue how or why people are buying them and making money.

Probably not what you’d get on CL, but that’s insurance for ya.

I don’t think the auto is terrible (had it with the 3.4 in a work T-100), would almost be acceptable in the smaller Taco.

But I can take it off your hands if you really need to unload it :)

I looked at an 02 v6 crewcab. 9k they wanted. It had not just 295k miles on it but it was completely rust free and clean. I had never seen anything that clean before. So I guess the price was justified. It’s like a Volvo 240. It’s not mileage, it’s time that wears things out. I didn’t buy it. I had to make sure I could get to the airport and didn’t want to chance anything.
